Kristen Stewart's avant-garde directing debut provokes questions rather than answers in a good way. Told in non-linear pieces to navigate the complexities of growing up with abuse, love, and loss, it's almost like a coming-of-age story except much darker, more realistic, and is based on a true story.

Striking, but the chaos and the nastiness seems to me to be just too easy to portray. Too much dependence on the impression made by close ups. Personally I like quite a strong narrative thread rather than almost stand alone episodes.
