3.75* Extremely low budget, but also pretty good. There were numerous scares spread throughout the movie (I got goosebumps multiple times). The direction and cinematography led it to be creepy. I had an with the acting but that's to be expected in low budget indie's most times. The characters were pretty annoying and it wasn't til the middle of act 3 that a couple of them became bearable. Oh and also I have to nit pick re the decisions they made, the things they said (at times) and the plot holes (ie if x happened the how in the hell was y able to occur). But considering how low budget this was, and how many times it scared me, its a great movie.

Basically House of 9 (2005) but with supernatural

Basically House of 9 (2005) but with supernatural stuff, reality show premise, and handheld cameras except without the acting skills to carry itself through making a lot of similar mistakes to House of 9. I did appreciate that during the climax they would have moments where they would illuminate something happening so I could still tell what was going on. Far too frequently in this subgenre you end up with a climax where you can't really see anything and it's hard to tell what's going on. This movie was a decent concept that deserved a better execution.

This found footage isn't too bad. It does

This found footage isn't too bad. It does fall for the same pitfalls as most found footage movies, especially with the same tired setting of an old hospital/asylum. There are some good scares (that are actually related to plot, not cheap scares like cats jumping in frame), and a neat critique on the 'reality' show concept. It was enjoyable, despite its shortfallings. The characters were an interesting bunch, what you would actually expect for a reality show.
